Day Fifteen
Renate my friend from Norway and I have been running together throughout the week so my Day 15 consisted of what I call “THE BACKYARD BURN” I created a circuit for us to do with only a small rectangular backyard, 2 lawn chairs, 1 15lb weight.
30 jumping jacks
3 rounds around the yard of lunges
30 jumping jacks
Squats with 15lbs.
30 jumping jacks
20 push ups
15 Tricep dips off the lawn chair
30 jumping jacks
we did this…..X2
THEN
3 sets of abs
I think she wanted to kill me when we were done…I know for a fact she wanted to kill me during the 2nd set of our extreme long circuit.
Day Sixteen
So after a week of touring the city and hanging out with old friends I’m back into my training.
Woke up fairly early this morning….for a nice morning run…of course I failed to wake up early enough to beat the heat. The sun was out as though it was mid day…I could already feel sweat trickling down my back as I began to run.
9:10am START
I had to unfortunately take more breaks than I usually do due to the extreme temperatures. It was so humid running I could barely breathe…I did however pull through and ended my run at 9:37am … not my best time but pretty good considering the conditions.
AND THEN…of course my favorite….ABS :)

3 words I’m trying desperately to live by …. :S
So after another break from training I have started up again in the last 2 days.
Renate (my friend from Norway) agreed to come running with me in the mornings to help me stay on track with my training.
We did the 5km loop around the neighborhood.
Day Thirteen: 8:25am
Pressed snooze for 5mins
8:30am
Crawled out of bed and changed into light workout gear
8:50am
The suns rays were shining into my room making the illusion that it was indeed warm outside that morning.
To my surprise yesterday morning it was the exact opposite of warm.
As we started running at a fairly quick pace I could feel the cool breeze as I tried to get my breathing into a rhythm. No luck…the cold air felt like stones going down my windpipe and let me tell you … its a horrible feeling.
9:15am
Stretched and did abs…I think you could hear us half way across the neighborhood pain after each set of abs.
Day Fourteen: 8:25am
Pressed snooze yet again for 5mins
Had to resort to my musical inspiration to wake up and turned on my Rockstar playlist.
Kristian … Renate’s husband decided to tag along on a bike and joined us for our now morning ritual.
8:55am
The cold air rushing down my windpipe happened a little later then yesterday but yet again it was cold and windy out…(sun shining and everything)
Today’s run was difficult.
I remember thinking ok so I just need to finish … this is my training…ok….almost there….ok….dying….ok breathe…ok….damn 3 more blocks.
9:20am
Turning down my driveway and running into the back yard has never felt sooo good.
So this past weekend I decided to go up to the chalet with the family.
I woke up somewhat early … ok maybe not early at all….to the warm smell of waffles…
and even though I did want to stay and eat my to my hearts content I went for my morning run instead.
I did a 4km all up hill and then decided to run up the BIG hill on which my chalet sits on…
My thoughts during the run:
I can do this….I can do this….I can’t do this….My calves burn…omg….this just keeps going…come on I can do this….at least to that tree…..ok not to that tree to that railing…I can do this…..No I can’t….stopping….
I made it up 1/4 of the hill…so yeahh……working on that.
On a better note: I went golfing with my father as well this weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it. I will hopefuly be spending more time at the golf course and driving range…if money permits.
I had a conversation yesterday about Flamenco music and I miss Uncle Ian playing flamenco and scales in the basement…so I looked up my favorite piece and now its on repeat
Paco de Lucia:
“Only the ocean and me
When these sails go up
Mountains fade away
Stars come out
I’m finally free
Now it’s only the ocean and me
You don’t want
You don’t wait
You don’t love
But you don’t hate
You just roll over me
And you pull me in”
I am finally home after about a month being in Montreal.
I had fun….but at the same time its so nice being home…
It was such a nice day yesterday I would have gone for a run
outside but the world cup kept me on a treadmill.
It was super weird running on a treadmill after running outside
for you long. I honestly thought I was going to fall off the thing.
Got to do an awesome circuit and I have to say I missed my gym…
the wonderful sweaty smell of the gym…well kinda sweaty.
Circuit:
Lat Pull Down
Lower Back Raise
Lunges with weight across the gym
80 Ab routine
Back to the grind….and loving it.
<3’s home.
This would be an adrenaline rush … also such a great experience!
Sa Paulo Brazil - ontop of a helicopter pad.
My run today felt faster then usual maybe because I couldn’t run for the last few days cause of weather and it just felt refreshing this morning…or maybe it is because I woke up this morning to the wonderful buzzing of the vuvuzela’s….nothing like a good swarm of wasps to get you out of bed in the morning.
Now I’m just waiting for the old ladies to finish up their aqua fit/dance/ballet classes so I can go down to the pool.
Definitely not feeling as fit as I was before I went downtown to help Sean film with the lifeguards but I guess thats what happens when you drink too many malibu and oranges/sprites and eat out everyday :(
Struggling to get back into the groove.
New Jack Johnson CD = New Tour Dates = Dannie saving her pennies to see her favorite at the Molson Amphitheater …. SOooooOoo in love with this man’s music.
